I guess life if full of moments of perfect timing. Andy was one of
those moments.
Two years ago, we lost our dog of 17 years, it was one month after my spinal
cord surgery. And this past fall our youngest son left for college. With
everyone else but me working during the day, the house became much quieter.
Also, because of my physical limitations, my family worried about me being
alone so much during the day. I had never thought about a service dog
until someone approached me at a therapy session at the "Y"
Initially I was concerned about caring for a dog from a wheelchair. I
knew at my first meeting with Eagles Wings Service Dogs training staff how much
this dedicated group cared about their service dogs. Many Hours of
training and encouragement gave me the skills and the confidence I needed to
adopt Andy. The staff continues to support us in every way.
Andy has brought more playfulness, purpose, and joy into my life. I
can't remember what life was like before Andy. Eagles Wings matched our
personalities perfectly. Even though Andy has bonded with the entire
family, he is committed to taking care of me. He often knows what I need
before I do.
I have so much more confidence when I go out into the community. Andy is a
great companion and he goes everywhere I go... to church, on the bus, swimming
at the "Y", Lion's Club Meetings, Shopping, restaurants, and even to out of
state neurology appointments, just to name a few.
Wherever I go, Andy brings out the best in people.
I know he brings out the best in me...
